Weekly or fortnightly mowing and edging, plus the scarifying, aerating and overseeding a lawn actually needs once or twice a year.

Vegetable patches, ornamental borders and deliberately wild corners — weeded, pruned, reshaped and composted.

Handed on, not sold off
Steven Goodyear started Monet Gardening in 2013 and named it after Monet's garden. When he retired to France in 2023, he handed it to the lad he'd been teaching — and still sends his notes on the planting.

Named after Monet's garden. Handed on, not sold off.
Monet Gardening was started in November 2013 by Steven Goodyear. He had built a garden at his own place in France, people back in England started asking him to design theirs, and a gardening business grew out of it — named after the garden Claude Monet made at Giverny.
Will Barnard joined in June 2023 while he was working out what he wanted to do with himself. He took to the work, Steven trusted him with more and more of it, and when Steven decided to retire back to the south of France, Will took Monet Gardening over in October 2023. Steven still chips in on garden designs from France; Will and Ernie do the gardens.

Tell us about the garden
Ring, email or message on Facebook with roughly what you're after — a regular mow, a bed that's got away from you, a pond that needs sorting, or a list of odd jobs. No forms to fight with and no app to download.

We come and look
Will comes out to see the garden, walks it with you and talks through what it actually needs — and what it doesn't. Every service ends the same way: a quote for the job, free and with nothing owed if you'd rather think about it.

The work gets done
Mowing and edging, bed care, hedges, small tree work, ponds, planting, poop scooping, painting a fence — whatever was quoted. Battery mowers where we can, a quieter cut, and the garden left tidy at the end of the visit.

Kept right through the year
Weekly, fortnightly, monthly, seasonally or as a one-off — whatever the garden wants. Lawns get scarified and aerated at the right point in the year, beds get cut back at the right point, and nothing lurches from jungle to scalped.

Staying local is the point: it keeps a regular round possible, means we know the soil and the seasons here, and makes it easy to drop in on a garden between visits if something needs a look.
